BR Ishara passes away!

The old hand writer-director BR Ishara breathed his last on Wednesday morning in a local hospital at Juhu. He was undergoing treatment for the last few weeks at Criticare hospital in Juhu being diagnosed with tuberculosis, but finally surpassed at the morning hours.

Late Mr. Bisra was well known in the industry for giving a new and sensational touch to the B-town cinema. He was the first man to introduce bold subject in Hindi cinema and is also recognized as the first director to have initiated the custom of shooting in Bungalows. He shot ‘Chetana’, starring Rehana Sultan, at the Suhel Bungalow, that was based upon the storyline of the rehabilitation of prostitutes. He took only 25 days to complete the film.

Popularly known as Babu, the actor-turned director began his film career as a tea boy and has given more than 34 films to the industry counting with Chetna, Hum Do Hamare Do, Charitra, Aurat, and Kaaran. He also introduced the stars like Parveen Babi and Bappi Lahri to the industry.

Ishara brought Salim Durrani, the cricketer of 70s into the film industry and made the movie Charitra with him. This was the film, where he introduced Parveen Bobby. Apart, he gave odds to lots of novice actors such as Danny Denzongpa, Rakesh Pandey, Rehana Sultana, Vijay Arora, Jaya Bhaduri, Amitabh Bachchan, and Reena Roy to name a few.
