Shashi Kapoor undergoes cataract surgery.

Old hand actor  and the the youngest of the Kapoor brothers– Raj and Shammi Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor today underwent a cataract surgery in a suburban hospital in Mumbai and was later discharged. The veteran actor was admitted to the Kokilaben hospital in Andheri, today morning for surgery.

Dr. Seema Behl performed the surgery of Mr. Kapoor and reporting about his health condition Dr Ram Narain, COO, Kokilaben hospital said, “He underwent a cataract surgery at the hospital. He is doing well and was discharged today.

The 76-year-old yesteryear superstar had made his Bollywood debut as a child artist in 1948 with ‘Aag’ and his foremost movie as a leading actor was ‘Dharamputra’ in 1961. The later years saw the actor performing his best in the movies like ‘Jab Jab Phool Khile’, ‘Kanyadaan’, ‘Pyar Ka Mausam’, ‘Sharmeelee’, ‘Aa Gale Lag Jaa’, ‘Fakira’, ‘Chor Machaye Shor, Mukti’, ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’, and ‘Heeralal Pannalal’.

Apart from acting in Bollywood films, the senior producer-director also acted in numerous Indo-English films counting ‘The Householder’, ‘Shakespeare-Wallah’, ‘Bombay Talkie’ and ‘Heat and Dust’. The previous year, he was privileged with the Padma Bhushan award. After all, he is a great name of the industry and we wish him an early recovery.
