Yash Chopra

Yash Chopra’s choutha was held on Thursday at YRF studios.

Last Thursday saw a huge B-town rush in the Yash Raj Studio as it was the Chautha occasion of the legendary Yash Chopra, who breathed his last few days ago, suffering from Dengu and multiple organ failure. It was no less than a doomsday for the tinsel town as the industry lost one of its jewels forever. However, the chautha occasion of late Mr. Chopra saw the whole B-town mourning his sad demise and desperately feeling his absence. And what was most appealing in the scene was the mourning of the B-town beggies Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher and Karan Johar.

Recollecting the phone calls of Yashji, his favorite actor Shah Rukh said, “He would make abrupt calls and say, ‘Main Yash bol raha hoon, tumko milna hai, aa jao’. He would hang up even before you could reply. His death was as abrupt as his phone call. Parathas (that he loved so much) would never be as tasty, women never as gorgeous in chiffon saris, post his death.”

And Karan made all shed tears with his words when expressed the bewails of his heart saying, “Yashji would call me up everyday, just to tell me that he loves me. I still scroll down my contacts to see his name stored. I hope to get a call from that number!” Really painful!

Big B offered his tribute to the legendary actor by reciting a few lines from his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s poetry that said,  “Jo beet gayi so baat gayi… Jo chhoot gaye, phir kahan miley. ‘”Yashji would never get angry. He never raised his voice,” he said.

And B-town old hand actor Anupam Kher appraised Yashji by recollecting his bad singing skills and their common liking for food. “He would sing any song like a bhajan, but would love singing. We ate together almost thrice a week. We had a common liking for food,” he said.

Besides these B-town biggies, many other celebs like Aishwrya Rai Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Katrina Kaif, Jeetendra, Kunal Kapoor, Susmita Sen, and Satrughan Sinha etc. from the industry too attended the juncture to offer their hearty tribute to Yashji.
