Big B recollects Mehmood Ali on his death anniversary.

Amitabh Bachchan recollects about Mehmood Ali.

Mehmood Ali was a renowned Indian actor, director and producer and was best known in the industry for playing comic roles in films. The great actor passed away on 23rd July 2004 due to prolonged illness and it was his death anniversary the previous day, when   Megastar Amitabh Bachchan shared sparkles of his past day experiences in his microblogging site.

Big B posted that Mehmood Ali was the man who had offered him the first lead role in the movie Bombay to Goa” and used to call him Danger Diabolic.

Recollecting the fond memorie of his pasts days, he posted, “Mehmood Bhai was among the early contributors to my career graph, he having faith from day one in me, much against the wishes and comments of naysayers. For some peculiar reason he would address me as ‘Danger Diabolic’, and was the first producer to give me a lead role – ‘Bombay to Goa’, a remake of a Tamil hit ‘Madras to Pondicherry’.”

Apart, he said Mehmood had initiated his career as a group dancer in films and had a good friendship with musician RD Burman. The two friends had even shaped a number brilliant musics. “Mehmood Bhai was also the one that gave RD Burman his first music direction. They were close friends and shared a lovely camaraderie. Bhaijaan’s sense of music too was exceptional.”

Repeating his musical sense, Big B further added, “Some of the tunes that he gave for his own films are still remembered. He sang some of them too. He produced films and directed one – a most poignant film on the story of a polio stricken physically challenged child.”
