Aishwarya Rai Bachhan: The goodwill ambassador of UNAIDS!

Bollywood actress Aaishwarya Rai Bachchan has added many golden wings to her ambassador crown before and in recent past we had seen her being appointed as the brand ambassador of a reputed jewellery farm, post pregnancy. Of late, the starlet has added one more wing to her crown as she has been appointed as the international goodwill ambassador for the joint United Nations programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) on the occasion of 67th United Nations General Assembly in America.

Now Ash is in a tour to America to her husband Abhishek Bachchan who is busy shooting his upcoming flick ‘Dhoom 3’ there. This is a golden prospect for Ash to be the part of a noble and brand new venture. With this new designation of her, the actress will create perception among people on diverse subjects related to HIV and will advocate the roots responsible for stopping new HIV infections in children and advocate. Apart, she will also advocate for better access to antiretroviral handling with her new position.

However, Ash is much besieged with this new designation and says that she is really honored accepting the same. “I am honoured to accept this appointment. Spreading awareness on health issues especially related to women and children has always been of concern. And now as a new mother, I can personally relate to this — the joys and concerns of every mother, and the hopes that we have for our children. I pray and strongly believe that no baby should be born with HIV. And I wish that every woman living with HIV stays healthy and has access to treatment. I promise that with UNAIDS, I will do my utmost to make this happen,” said the actress.

We have seen the actress playing the role of brand ambassador for many reputed brands before and standing up to the expectations of the brands. But this time the designation is somehow different and of course we would expect her to caricature the oath she has taken to put into effect with UNAIDS. And rest on time, of course!
